Celebrated on November 1st throughout Latin America, the Day of the Dead honors the spirits of the dead through gatherings and celebrations. In Santiago, Guatemala, locals celebrate by flying massive, brightly-colored kites (barriletes gigantes), which they say represent a symbolic link between the living and the dead.
